Special ~ Virgin Trains East Coast.

What an exciting 5 days of tennis at Wimbledon with the British players doing quite well! Of course my post is train related, and today I bring a special post on VTEC after my latest visit to London Kings Cross.

I start off with an image of 91 130, 91 110 and 43 239 waiting for their next journeys from KGX.

I had heard about the new VTEC full liveried Power Cars being out in force on their first day of service, so it felt good to capture them on their first service from London Kings Cross - they had 43 311 and 312 had worked from Edinburgh down to the Capital, arriving at 12:53. The full livery on a High Speed Train looks very good, and for the record the Power Car number is both on the side in orange and on the front of the Power Car in white.

43 311 would be leading the 14:00 service from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen, so I just luckily caught it at around 13:50.  Time was ticking away and finally the departure occurred (seen in the bottom image.)

It was also the first time I have seen a DVT in the full VTEC livery! It was heading back to the depot at Bounds Green I believe at around quarter past two in the afternoon!

Finally, the hired in set which is on loan to VTEC was lucky enough to pull in to London Kings Cross after working from the North earlier on in the day. Pictured below is East Midlands Trains 43 047 sat at London Kings Cross.

After that, it was time to go on a Great Northern service to Finsbury Park and then the Underground to elsewhere across London.

That's all for my special VTEC post, tomorrow brings my London Part 2 post! ^Andy
