Fleet Focus ~ Class 321 Renatus Overhaul
Abellio Greater Anglia currently operate 94 Class 321 sets dating from 1988.
As part of a partnership between Eversholt Rail and Abellio Greater Anglia, 10 of the AGA Class 321s (321310-321311 included) will be refurbished before the end of the current franchise (the first will be ready by Winter) which ends in October 2016. The remaining 20 that will be refurbished will be offered to the new franchise.
Separate from this refurbishment programme, another refurbishment programme will commence whereby 20 other Class 321's will receive new seat covers and an internal refresh.
The Class 321 RENATUS refurbishment will include:
- New, more comfortable seating;
- Air-conditioning fitted;
- New heating systems;
- Larger vestibules for improved boarding and alighting;
- Wi-Fi facilities throughout;
- Power sockets installed;
- New, energy efficient lighting
- Improved space allocation for buggies, bicycles and luggage;
- New flooring, ceiling panels, windows and also new CIS Screens on-board.
The Chief Operating Officer at Eversholt Rail said: "Our £60 investment
in the Class 321 Renatus upgrade will provide a transformation for East
Anglian passengers".
Class 321's operate between Ipswich, Clacton, Walton, Southend, Braintree, Witham, Chelmsford and London Liverpool Street.
