CARDIFF CENTRAL is the largest and busiest station in Wales. Opened in 1850, it is a grade 2 listed building owned by Network Rail but operated by Arriva Trains Wales. Train announcements at this station are automated, created by "Roger" (in Welsh) followed by "Ruth" (in English).
- Platform 0) Arriva Wales services to Ebbw Vale Town via Risca (using Class 150s).
- Platform 1) Cross Country Services to Nottingham via Birmingham (Class 170s), Arriva (Class 158s) to Cheltenham Spa, Milford Haven and Swansea.
- Platform 2) Arriva Wales Services to Cheltenham Spa (Class 158s), Maestag (Class 150s), Holyhead (Class 175) via Llandudno Junction + Wrexham and Manchester Piccadilly (Class 175s) via Crewe. Other departures from Platform 2 include First Great Western routes to Taunton, Bristol Temple Meads, Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton, Fareham and Southsea. Furthermore, Cross Country to Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham using Class 221s.
- Platform 3/3A) Arriva Wales to Milford Haven (Class 175s) and First Great Western services to/from Swansea (HST from Paddington).
- Platform 4/4A) Fishguard Harbour, Maestag and Bridgend are Arriva Wales services served on Platform 4/4A. First Great Western trains terminate here from London Paddington and Portsmouth. Cross Country trains terminate here, from Nottingham, Birmingham and Manchester.
- Platform 6) Arriva Wales to Cardiff Queen Street, Coryton, Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare and Treherbert.
- Platform 7) Platform 7 for Arriva Wales Trains to Radyr, Fairwater, Barry Island and Barry.
