Somerset Trip Part 2 ~ West Somerset Railway Late Summer Weekend
Over the weekend of Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August 2015, the West Somerset Railway's Late Summer Weekend took place. The lineup of home fleet locomotives included Class 47 No. 47840 / D1661, Class 33 No. 33057 / D6575, the Class 115 Diesel Multiple Unit and GWR steam locomotives 3850, 6960, 4160 and 7828. It was a fantastic event and the weather was excellent. Here are a selection of photos from the event.
The first photograph on the right shows Class 47 D1661 preparing to depart with the first train of the day to Minehead. The loco did two round trips to Minehead from Bishops Lydeard. Shortly before this photo was taken the locomotive arrived light engine from Williton depot.
Class 47 D1661 is seen arriving at Bishops Lydeard light engine from Williton to work the first train of the day from Bishops Ludeard to Minehead.
Class 33 D6575 is seen at Minehead ready to work a train to Bishops Lydeard. Directly behind the locomotive is a GWR wagon, sandwiched in between the Crompton and the coaches.
The WSR's resident Class 115 DMU is seen making a spirited departure from Minehead with a short shuttle service to Dunster, the next stop on from Minehead.
Class 33 D6575 can be seen again, this time departing Williton with a service from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard.
As part of the late summer weekend, the Diesel Electric Preservation Groups Williton depot was open to the public. The home fleet of locos were on display at the depot and in this view is Class 35 Hymek D7017.
Class 47 D1661 is seen climbing into Stogumber station with the last train hauled by the Class 47, heading for Bishops Lydeard.
GWR 7828 is seen passing D1661 at Crocombe Heathfield.
After the days work, D1661 is seen departing Bishops Lydeard light loco heading back to Williton depot.
