Station Focus - Aldershot
Hello all, Liam here! Bringing you another Station Focus post! This post is particularly special because it is indeed my local station!

Without further ado, Aldershot is located on the border of Hampshire & Surrey. It's nearest large city is Guildford, Surrey. The station, sharing similar aesthetics to Haslemere station, is owned by South West Trains, the company also runs services through the station. There are 3 platforms, platform 1 for Up services to London Waterloo via Woking or Ascot, platform 2 for Up services to Guildford and Ascot and Down services to Farnham and Alton, platform 3 for Up services to Guildford and Ascot and Down services to Farnham and Alton.
The station was built and opened by the London and South West Railway in 1870. It was opened to serve London and West Hampshire. As part of the 1923 grouping, the station became part of the Southern Railway. As part of the nationalisation of the railways in 1948, the station became part of the Southern Region of British Railways. After British Rail sectorised itself in 1982, the station was undertook by Network South East (NSE), who operated and served the station until 1996, when Stagecoach South West Trains (SWT) overtook the station and services as part of the privatisation of the railways.
There are a variety of services that serve Aldershot, all operated by South West Trains. Peak services operate from Farnham to London Waterloo via Ascot and Richmond. Other persistent services include a half hourly service between Alton and London Waterloo via Woking (XX:04, calling at Clapham Junction additionally, XX:34 non stop between Surbiton and Waterloo), a half hourly service between Guildford and Ascot, in both directions (XX:08 & XX:38 to Guildford, XX:00 & XX:30 to Ascot).
Class 444 & 450 desiro units operate services between Alton and Waterloo via Woking (Class 444s on selected services, with 450s on the majority of services). Class 456s and 450s operate the Guildford to Ascot branch line.
