ABOUT: Liverpool Street Station in London was opened in 1874 (a replacement for BishopsGate Station) and is the main terminus for services in East Anglia. Downstairs, the Underground Station connects the Circle and District line.

In 1895, the station was extended to accommodate more services. FACT - Liverpool Street is one of the stations included on the 'Monopoly' BoardGame.

Into the present day, Liverpool Street is owned and operated by Network Rail (whom own another 18 stations within the UK). Over 58 million passengers passed through in 2013/4, making LST one of the largest and busiest UK Stations.

PLATFORM CONFIGURATIONS/DESTINATIONS:
The station has 18 platforms and is served by AbellioGreaterAnglia, StanstedExpress, TFL CrossRail and TFL Overground. Also, rarely served by C2C (mainly during engineering periods). 
  • Omar (C)
    Platform 1 to 6) Generally, West Anglia and Stansted Express Services towards Cambridge, Enfield, Hertford East, Chingford and Stansted Airport, via Stratford / Seven Sisters. These use Class 315s, 317s and 379s. 
  • Platform 9/10/11) Generally, Abellio Inter City Services towards Norwich and Ipswich using Class 90, DVTs and MK3 carriages. 
  • Platform 7 to 8 and 12 to 15) Services towards Braintree, Southend, Chelmsford, Colchester, Clacton, Walton and many intermediate stations en-route. These use Class 321 and 360 units. 
  • Platform 15 to 18) Generally, TFL Rail Metro Stopper-services towards Shenfield or/and Gidea Park. These use Class 315 units. 

FUTURE: From 2018, CrossRail will also serve Liverpool Street, without originating or terminating at the station, as it will be a through route towards Shenfield (one direction) and Heathrow (in the other direction).
