THE FUTURE

As of 20th September, the Great Western franchise will be rebranded to GWR (Great Western Railway), still operated by FirstGroup. In an attempt to boost revenue and railway usage to replicate the opening of the Great Western Railway, FirstGroup have teamed up with Isambard Kingdom Brunel's great-great-great Grandson Isambard Thomas to market the GWR rebrand. The rebrand involves a complete repaint of the franchises units. Class 166s have already been released into service as seen below:

Network Rail have announced plans to electrify the Great Western Railway between London and Bristol/Cardiff, allowing faster, higher capacity Electric trains. Class 319s, 321s, 377s and 365s are rumoured to be transferred to First Great Western for suburban usage.

Class 800 Bi-Modal trains will be manufactured at the Hitachi plant in the North East and will be delivered for usage by GWR once the line is electrified.

That's it from me today then! Look out for more posts in the coming week!
