Weekly Overview - 20th September 2015.

A very good Sunday to all the East Anglia Rail Scene readers out there! Andy here, covering!

Here's this week's news;

Today marked the start of the re-branding of First Great Western to Great Western Railway (GWR.) Many of you would have gathered I imagine by when using social media that the all green HST made it's way from Laira TMD to London this afternoon/evening for what is very likely to be the press release tomorrow morning.

Strictly Copyrighted to Dan Warman.
As I understand, the Green HST (Power Cars 43 187 and 188) shall be side by side in Platforms 3,4 and 5 with a GWR green Class 166 (166 204 or 205) and the Green Riviera Sleeper from Penzance ( 57 603 and/or 57 605) around 06:45 tomorrow morning.

The HST should work the 07:15 departure to Cardiff Central (please note timings can change so we as a blog cannot be held accountable for this.) Thanks to Dan Warman who was out to capture the Empty Coaching Stock movement through Reading this evening around 18:20.

Also announced this week which interests many people (not just enthusiasts) across the UK is the return of the Flying Scotsman. To mark the return, Previewing the Scotsman is an option in January 2016 at the East Lancashire Railway and on the main line, in February the Scotsman will make the Inaugural Run between London Kings Cross and York (in it's new BR green livery), while the Scotsman will be visiting Heritage lines and on a number of tours for the rest of the year. For more information please visit http://www.flyingscotsman.org.uk/scotsman-season.aspx

Also, 100 new drivers are to be recruited by ScotRail.

90034 departed Norwich at 18:05 on Thursday (sat in between Platform 4/5 throughout the afternoon) for its C-exam at Wembley. Photo by Gary. Whilst 90015 is still at Crewe.

Andy tells us that  90009 went to Toton on Thursday, hauled by 37422.  At Toton it will also lose its Union Jack livery prior to be repainted into AGA colours. Maintenance follows as Crewe.

The last day of the London Midland Class 321's in service was today. They then transfer to Abellio ScotRail. Previous London Midland 321 services will be replaced by 319s (recently acquired).

Virgin Trains WCML Class 390 Pendolino 390 002 was renamed Stephen Sutton by his mother on the 15th September at Birmingham International in memory of Stephen passing away with an incurable type of cancer. That's all the news for this week.
