Direct Rail Services Fleet Update - Dec 2015

Class 47:

Direct Rail Services (DRS) are having some major fleet changes happening in the next couple of months. The last serviceable Class 47 remaining (47790) is making a move to be stored in Scotland sometime in the next seven days. This 47 was working the short set from Norwich to Great Yarmouth & Lowestoft for a short while this year before being replaced by the Class 37s, but for now it remains on tour outings with the Northern Belle and stock moves. It's currently at Norwich and is planned to be stored in either Crewe or Carlisle, but this information is unknown at this point. 47790 will be joining others of it's class in storage, 47805/818/828, which shall also be joining 47810/813/841/853 which were already in storage.

Class 68:

As DRS's Class 68s have become ever so more popular amongst both the company and the train spotting community it's self there has been an additional 17 locomotives ordered. 68016 and 017 have arrived and have started working services. DRS also are having new Class 88s being built.

In early 2015 two Class 68s (006/007) have been transferred to Scotland to mostly be worked on the Fife Circle workings with Scotrail MK2s. When DRS aquired their initial 15 Class 68s six of them were transferred to work with Chiltern on their loco hauled workings formerly worked by Class 67s.

Class 37:

These continue to operate on Stock moves around the UK, and also on loan to operators such as Abellio Greater Anglia for the Short Hauled Set. 37s were recently on the Cumbrian coast too, before the adverse weather. You may remember our posts about this.

Thank You. Orson.
