ANGLIA: Greater Anglia Fleet Focus (Part 3 of 3)
Welcome to Part 3 of the AGA Fleet Focus, this time for the Class 317/379 West Anglia EMU units.
If you've missed Part 1 it's here, whilst Part 2 is here.
Class 317s are gradually being overhauled and operate on all of the Abellio Greater Anglia West Anglia routes aside from the Stansted Express (317s only operate a few odd SExp Diagrams). See here for interior shots.
317s usually operate the 17:07/18:07/19:07 London Liverpool Street to Kings Lynn services, and therefore are often found stabled around the Ely/KingsLynn/Cambridge region. Danny H has captured a Class 317 here (above right) at Cambridge.
RIGHT: Class 315 at Liverpool Street, (C) Omar. This fleet, along with many Class 317s, have now transferred to TFL for Overground and TFLRailMetro operation.
Class 379s are the newest members of the Greater Anglia fleet, used on the Stansted Airport to Liverpool Street corridor. The fleet is bespoke for airport operations, with larger luggage racks and wide doors and gangways.
Here, Antony Guppy has captured 379013 whilst on battery trials on the Harwich branch. For more information on this project, which has since ended, see here.
I'll personally be back tomorrow, as I'm on the Weekend turn, for another in the Route Focus series. ^Harry
