NEWS: BTP Wrap, Cheltenham Fest and Government Plans

Sister

Just a short post today to bring you up to date with general news from around Great Britain....

In order to increase awareness for the BTP (British Transport Police), a vinyl wrap has been applied to one of the turbostar London Midland units.

The Cheltenham Festival is between 15th and 18th March attracting thousands of supporters. Great Western Railway is certainly prepared for this increase in footfall to usual, providing an additional 12 services each day during the event - this adds an additional 5,000 seats to usual!

Customers are advised that a queuing system will be in operation at London Paddington (outbound towards Cheltenham) and at Cheltenham (return times).

Cheltenham Spa Station Manager Richard Morrish said: “The Cheltenham Festival is one of the most popular in the race calendar, bringing a large number of visitors to the town. While our friendly and approachable staff will be on hand to help keep people moving, I would urge customers to allow time for their journeys, as a queuing system will be needed to allow passengers to board trains in safety.”

In Anglia, the loaned DRS short set is out of action this evening (at time of publishing this) due to a fault. Abellio have been forced to cancel a few services unfortunately, as well as implementing a single car Class 153 on an alternative diagram.

Finally, and as reported in the news and on our Twitter feed (@TheGBRailScene), HS3 and CrossRail 2 plans are well underway. For a full itinerary of events, see here.

No post tomorrow I'm afraid, Matthew's posting on Friday and Jacob, on Saturday.

That's all from me for now, back Monday personally - for live updates, and to be informed of when posts get published throughout the week, please visit our Social Media feeds. You will not be disappointed! ^Harry
