GENERAL NEWS: From Around Great Britain (April 2016)

NOW, WE'VE GENERAL UPDATES FROM A VARIETY OF TOCS. LOTS TO STATE, SO LETS CRACK ON....

Firstly, the ex-Class 170s from ScotRail. These are now undergoing an overhaul at Southern, as reported.

A reminder of the Charity Charter on Saturday 30th April. You may remember us posting about it in February? See this link for all the details of this tour, which will consist of 4 trips using Class 37s and 4 MK2 coaches from DRS. The tour is fully booked, and will hopefully be a great success. Those of you who didn't get a ticket is still able to get some good photographs along the line!

As recently reported, a BTP wrap was applied to the middle carriage of a London Midland Class 323. We can now confirm this was 323221.

Next, the arrival of more DRS 68s into the UK as we expected. Here is 023, 024 and 025 without any branding yet applied, so I guess logos and fleetnames are the next stage. We can confirm these few are now in the country to conclude the current batch. 88s are also being constructed for DRS, as reported.

Here, the short set - the locos used to power the charity event - is seen stabled in Norwich next to one of the Class 170s of the Abellio Greater Anglia fleet. More Anglia updates here.

Next, to South Eastern Railway. 375613 is the most recent SouthEastern unit to go for a repaint and overhaul.

As announced recently on the blog, ScotRail 321411/412 have now been converted to 320311/312 (3-car) but is still running in London Midland Livery. However, it won't be long until it's in Saltire Blue Livery. An Overhaul is due soon, also reported previously. For more information on this class 321 overhaul programme please see this link and also this link here.

ANGLIA: Lee Bridge Station Opens 15th May. Most Services Which Start/Terminate Stratford Will Call Here. Plus Additional 15:50 Cambridge to Ely from 15th May.

Finally for today, some sad news for some. It's been planned for a while, but even more locomotives are being exported for use in Bulgaria following reaching the end of their lives in the UK.

So farewell 86213, 701, 702 and 235 - in Intercity, Colas, Anglia and a red livery. Lets hope the rest of Europe find good use for you!
More Class 86 news next Monday (25th)! *Harry
