North: 385 Progress And First Rail Plans
BBC say 'A new budget rail service between Edinburgh and London has been given the green light by the Rail Regulator from 2021. The 10-year deal will allow First Group to operate five trains a day each way. It said average fares would be less than £25 and there would be only one class of carriage.'
Talking of Scotland, the first Hitachi 385 unit has departed from Japan. 24 of these are be enter service in December 2017, the further 46 in December 2018.
These trains are for Edinburgh to Falkirk and Glasgow, Stirling and Alloa, Glasgow suburban routes, Stirling to Dunblane and Edinburgh to Berwick to Dunbar services.
