Spring 2017 Summary
Aside from the stories already highlighted in our developments page, there isn't really much to report news-wise. However, here is a summary of the latest.....
GWR's new 800/802 fleet continues to be overhauled, as does for VTEC
ALSO TO REPORT.....
170270 now in AGA's full livery, as part of the Turbostar overhaul programme. This is the first of the batch to receive the treatment, and this unit was previously in ONE livery (unlike sister 2-car 170/2s of the fleet, which are currently awaiting repaint out of Anglia Railways colours). The 8 3-car 170s will also be overhauled internally plus to be painted out of ONE livery - 208 included which is currently in a vinyl wrap to promote the Breckland line from Norwich to Ely.
Above: Artist impression of the new Aventra Bombardier fleet replacing current 317/321/360s at Greater Anglia.
Numerous Class 90s have been leased to Virgin Trains East Coast, to boost up numbers when maintenance and fault restrictions occur. 90034 (ex-VTWC and GA) is one of them, and 90039 is another.
Another ex-Tube train is being used for conversion by VivaRail - similar to the Class 230, but this one's battery operated and is just one-car.
Finally, ex-GTR 317s spotted at Harwich #EXCLUSIVE. These 317s and the ex-GTR 321s also are transferring across to Greater Anglia, and will receive a minor overhaul within the next few months of being in service.
